With SilbitzSecure®, the Silbitz Group is pooling its expertise in the field of heavy-duty cast materials under a strong umbrella brand for mobile vehicle barriers. SilbitzSecure’s aim is to provide effective protection for people in public spaces – with well-designed, robust and practical security solutions ‘Made in Germany’.

The two main products, CitySafe® and MonoSafe®, are designed for different application scenarios but are based on a common principle: maximum safety through intelligent design using highly stable cast iron.

The impetus for developing CitySafe® arose from a tragic event: the attack on Berlin’s Breitscheidplatz on 19 December 2016. The engineers at the Torgelow foundry took this event as an opportunity to step up and take responsibility. Their stated aim was to develop a product that protects people whilst fully utilising the exceptional properties of cast iron.

Cast iron is considered to be particularly robust, durable and energy-absorbing. It is used, amongst other things, in the manufacture of turbine components for wind turbines – including in the demanding offshore sector. It is precisely these material properties that make it ideal for use in highly effective vehicle barriers.

MonoSafe® was developed as an evolution of CitySafe®. The key driver behind this was a specific request from customers for smaller, more flexible vehicle barriers that are particularly suitable for pavements, access roads or narrow lanes. The result is a compact security solution that blends harmoniously into urban environments without compromising on protection.

With SilbitzSecure®, the Silbitz Group combines centuries of experience in casting and materials technology with a clear social mission: to rethink security – responsibly, innovatively and reliably.
